Description

This session will address the important relationship between gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and metabolic bariatric surgery. GERD is a commonly experienced symptom for many people with obesity. The impact of metabolic bariatric surgery on GERD depends on the procedure performed, however, the results are not absolute, most likely due to the multiple factors that contribute to GERD post-procedure. The session will encompass discussions on the pathophysiology, risk factors, clinical manifestations, diagnostic approaches, and various management strategies tailored to individuals experiencing GERD following metabolic bariatric surgery.

The President’s salon is designed to provide an opportunity to discuss important issues in the management of GERD post-metabolic bariatric surgery with a series of expert presentations enhanced by an informal discussion between the chairs, presenters and the audience.
