Biography

Dr. Nau attended the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, graduating in 2006. He completed his General Surgery residency at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in 2012. While there he completed a year of clinical and translational science research while also receiving his Master of Science. After graduation he was a fellow in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Currently, he is a Clinical Professor at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where is he the surgical director of the Digestive Health Center and bariatric surgery fellowship program director. Clinically he splits his time between bariatrics, benign foregut and abdominal wall reconstruction. His research interests include outcomes in bariatric and foregut surgery, automated intelligence in surgical education and the influence of sarcopenia on surgical outcomes.
