Biography

I am board certified in both Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine.  I am also studying to become board certified in Lifestyle Medicine.

I practice at a teaching clinic where we train medical students and internal medicine residents in Clinton Township, Michigan.

I did my undergraduate and medical school training at Michigan State University.  I completed residency training in 2002 at Mount Clemens General Hospital (now McLaren Macomb Regional Medical Center).

I am not only a spokesperson, but I am also a patient! Dr. Pesta performed my RNY gastric bypass surgery in February 2020. After successfully losing 95% of my excess body weight, and finally gaining the upper hand in my lifelong battle against the disease of obesity, I decided to pursue additional training to help other patients and give back to the bariatric community.
