Biography

Kristin Louden is a Nurse Practitioner practicing in Obesity Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic‚Äôs Bariatric and Metabolic Institute since 2020. She received her BSN and MSN from Kent State University and previously received a bachelor’s in health care administration from the Ohio State University. As a nurse, she worked in the operating room where she scrubbed and circulated general surgery, including metabolic and bariatric procedures. Since obtaining her masters in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care, she has had the privilege to collaborate under Dr. Scott Butsch, a former Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the first physician in the U.S. to complete subspecialty fellowship in obesity medicine. Under Dr. Butsch‚Äôs guidance, she is taking part in the creation of the Ohio Obesity Society. She is co-chair of the BMI‚Äôs fundraising committee where she has helped raise over $30,000 for obesity education, research, treatment, and advocacy. At the Cleveland Clinic, she is a staff preceptor in one of the nation‚Äôs first Obesity Medicine Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Programs. She is a member of ASMBS, AANP, the Obesity Action Coalition and previously OMA. At ASMSBS, she is a member of the IH Advanced Practice Provider Committee. She has obtained the AANP certificate in Obesity Management Fundamentals and the ASMBS APP Assessment Based Certificate. Kristin is passionate about educating her colleagues and patients about the disease of obesity because she has lived with it herself, along with PCOS. She seeks to empower providers to treat patients with evidence-based weight loss interventions that improve patients‚Äô quality of life, not just the number on the scale. In her spare time she enjoys playing volleyball and being with her husband, Scott, daughter, Brinley, and dog, Rose.
