Biography

Dr. Shaneeta Johnson is Professor and Interim Chair of Surgery, Chief of Minimally Invasive, Robotic, andBariatric Surgery, and Program Director, General Surgery Residency Program at Morehouse School ofMedicine in Atlanta, Georgia. She is also a Senior Fellow in Global Health Equity at the Satcher HealthLeadership Institute and an inaugural fellow of the NMA/Medical Consortium on Climate Change and HealthFellowship. She is the Deputy Fellowship Director of the Climate Change and Health Equity Fellowship. Sheis an experienced surgeon, speaker, clinician, educator, and researcher.Dr. Johnson received her Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience from The Johns Hopkins University, medical degreefrom the Loma Linda University School of Medicine, surgical training at Howard University Hospital, and aMinimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. She is a Fellow of the AmericanCollege of Surgeons, the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, and the International Collegeof Surgeons. She is board certified in both General Surgery and Obesity Medicine. She has been appointed toleadership positions within state and national organizations, committees, and editorial boards includingPresident of the Georgia Chapter of ASMBS, and serving on the boards of the Society of AmericanGastrointestinal Surgery, Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, and the Surgical Section of the NationalMedical Association.Dr. Johnson is an expert in robotic minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery, health equity, climate changeand environmental justice. She is a sought-after speaker whose expertise has afforded her invitations to speakboth nationally and internationally.
