  • Geisinger Medical Center
  • Danville, PA United States

Dr. Cook-Richardson was raised in Washington DC, and she has continued to exemplify her passion for medicine while juggling being a wife, mother, and surgical resident physician. Her undergraduate studies at Bowie State University gave her the foundation that fueled her passion for science. Following undergrad, she went on to complete research in the field of malaria vaccine development at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease at the National Institutes of Health. This experience developed her strong interests in medical research. While earning her doctorate of medicine from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington DC, Dr. Cook-Richardson invested time in combining her love for science, medicine, and research. She then went on to conduct her categorical general surgical residency at Geisinger Medical Center, which is a Level-1 Adult and Pediatric trauma center in Danville, Pennsylvania. Advancing surgical practices through research has become a thread that is tightly woven in her day-to-day life as a surgical resident physician. The investments she makes in surgical research and patient care will provide meaningful practice changes as a future minimally invasive surgeon.
